| National Memorial Arboretum accepts donation of five new mobility scooters 2008 |
 | The National Memorial Arboretum near Lichfield, which comprises 150 acres of trees and memorials, including the striking Armed Forces Memorial, has been presented with five new mobility scooters by Electric Mobility Euro. The scooters will be available, alongside electric wheelchairs, for visitors with mobility problems.
The scooters were required urgently to help the Arboretum cope with a huge increase in visitors, including many former service people who now suffer a disability.
Steve Perry, marketing manager for Electric Mobility Euro, said: “We had heard that following a big rise in visitor numbers, the Arboretum was struggling to get some less mobile visitors around the site. As the leading supplier of mobility scooters in the UK, we decided to step in and make this donation. The scooters will get visitors to the far reaches of the Arboretum and right to the top of the new Armed Forces Memorial.”
Katie Neilson, Arboretum trustee who received the scooters, said: “This is an incredibly generous donation and we are delighted to have these new scooters for the benefit of our visitors. We have designed the entire site to make it accessible to everyone and the new scooters will ensure even more people can enjoy it.”
